Michael
Marra
Widely acclaimed as one of Scotland's most
talented, idiosyncratic and original songwriters
and performers, his name is frequently mentioned
in the same breath as artists of the calibre
as Tom Waits, Loudon Wainwright III &
Randy Newman. Anyone who has witnessed his
solo shows will testify to his talent to
entertain and, through his combination of
humour and thought provoking lyrics, offer
insights into the human condition.
In
addition to his music, Michael also spends
time painting, drawing and going to the
football, but he never enjoys it.
You

"Indisputedly
the finest song-writer in Scotland. His
musical vision is extremely wide, melding
50's pop, church music, Dr John and a
Randy Newmanesque eye for beauty in the
commonplace"
The List
"Arch,
witty songwriting"
Q Magazine
"Marra's
music is soaked in the Scottish Experience,
strained through a gauze of ragtime-blues
piano and shot with filaments of traditional
folk and American voices ... with a breath
of his Woodbined voice he picks at the
raw bones of our history and society with
harsh eloquence... One of my top ten singer-songwriters
of all time"
